Quality Electronics Technician

Position Summary

This position is responsible for supporting QCI, EM, DC, and Transformer Departments with functional test set-ups, running of burn-in testing, and production sample approvals. The Quality Electronics Technician is also responsible for the troubleshooting of product and test equipment failures, and aiding in the upgrading and maintenance of the test equipment, test instructions, and test data sheets.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Aid in the development and maintenance of production test requirements, limits, and procedures
  • Troubleshoot to identify root cause of the unit failure and provide suggested corrective action
  • Determine if it would be cost effective to troubleshoot units.
  • Communicate troubleshooting analysis results to proper channels
  • Analyze troubleshooting data for trends and developing production issues and reporting them to Quality Management, Operations, and Engineering
  • Other tasks as necessary.
Skills and Abilities
  • Computer Skills: Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word
  • Written and Oral Communication
  • Problem Solving
  • Time Management and multitasking to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize tasks accordingly.
  • Read mechanical drawings, interpret layouts, and other types of engineering drawings.
  • Experienced with the use of standard lab equipment; scopes, meters, spectrum analyzers, etc.
  • Proficient in test and measurement techniques.
  • Troubleshooting abilities to locate problems and identify possible solutions.
  • Operate efficiently in a teamwork environment.
  • Learn the design of different and new products and how to troubleshoot them.
  • AC/DC electronic ballasts and power supplies.
  • Read and interpret layouts, blue prints, schematics and engineering drawings.
  • Component identification and function of components
  • ESD practices
  • Knowledge of Ohm’s Law, the Power Law and Kirchoff’s Law.
  • AC/DC series, parallel and combination circuits.
  • Familiarity with PLC’s, microprocessors, linear and digital circuits a plus.
Experience and Education
  • Must have hands on experience with measurement equipment such as oscilloscopes, multi-meters, micrometers, digital calipers, etc.
  • Must have experience in testing and troubleshooting electronic assemblies.
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • A degree in a technical field is preferred but not required.
  • Experience with LabVIEW preferred.

Physical Requirements
  • Lifting and carrying up to 40+ lbs.
  • Must be able to work effectively and efficiently in a manufacturing environment.
